I get why the Wizards are only a 1-point ‘dog here. They were supposed to be good, and they’re playing at home tonight against a team that may be playing over its head a bit early in the season. Are the Clippers really as good as they’ve looked? I’m a bit skeptical, but I do think this is at least a playoff-caliber team in the Western Conference. At this point, the Wizards don’t even look like a team capable of competing in the weaker east.
It sounds like the locker room discord in Washington is real. We have heard for years that Wall and Beal aren’t the best of friends, and we finally seem to be seeing that play out on the court in real time. This team probably just needs to get blown up at this point, and I’d be shocked if we didn’t start to see some trades coming down the pike in the next few months.
I’m just going to ride the hot hand here. The Clippers have been playing fun, team-friendly basketball for the entirety of the season, while the Wizards are a miserable mess. Even without Gallinari, I don’t think this spread is big enough. I’m happy to take the Clippers to cover that 1-point spread tonight. The Wizards haven’t exactly enjoyed much of a home court advantage so far this season, anyway.
