Athletic came into this season on the back foot and the Sevilla loss confirmed it. They’ve now dropped four of their last five league games. Since January, the club has only won six times in LaLiga.

Part of the problem for Athletic is how they build a squad. The club only signs Basque players, so there’s no quick trade to fix a stalled attack. Nico Williams and Oihan Sancet are supposed to carry the goal threat, but both have been in and out of form and fitness, and it’s not clear either starts on Thursday.

Last season Athletic scored just 1.13 goals a game, among the lowest totals in the league. A blunt attack like that is walking into a Barcelona defence that has looked much tighter since the start of 2026.

Barcelona have conceded only twice at home in their last five league games. Last season they shut teams out in 53% of their home matches, which is right around where this price sits.
