UEFA Nations League Prediction: Turkey – France (2026-09-25)

Turkey’s World Cup campaign ended earlier than expected, but their final match offered a much more encouraging attacking display. After losing 2-0 to Australia and 1-0 to Paraguay, they defeated the United States 3-2, finally converting their opportunities into goals.

Arda Güler, Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kaan Ayhan all scored in that victory, with the winning goal arriving deep into stoppage time. The result also continued a pattern of Turkey conceding against stronger opposition, having already allowed two goals against Australia.

Before the tournament, Turkey beat North Macedonia 4-0 and Venezuela 2-1. Their attacking quality has been evident, but turning chances into goals has not always been straightforward.

France finished fourth at the World Cup after a remarkable 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place match. 

They had previously lost 2-0 to Spain in the semi-finals, having beaten Morocco 2-0, Paraguay 1-0 and Sweden 3-0 during the knockout stages.

The England match was particularly revealing for this selection.

Against a Turkey side that has also experienced defensive difficulties, France have enough quality to contribute heavily to the total.

The recent five-goal encounter between Turkey and the United States, followed by France’s ten-goal match against England, provides the clearest argument for this selection.

France carry considerable attacking quality, while Turkey’s home advantage and improved finishing in their final World Cup appearance give them a route to contributing themselves.

A three-goal match would return the stake on the standard Asian total, while four or more would settle the selection as a winner. 

With both teams capable of creating chances and their recent defensive records leaving room for improvement, over 3.0 goals at 1.72 looks like an appealing option for this Nations League opener.
