Middlesbrough are one of the most awkward teams in the country to be drawn against at the moment. They have also already knocked out two sides to reach this stage, so the squad is comfortable with the midweek workload and clearly wants the run to continue. Palace are the higher graded side and Selhurst Park is a proper venue, but the picture there is less settled. Pierre Sage is only just getting started as head coach, the 3-2 comeback at Fulham was his first win, and the defence has conceded in every single match so far without a clean sheet to show for it. Add the rotation that a third round tie usually brings on the home bench and the gap narrows further. Backing the visitors on the plus one line means a payout on a Boro win, a draw or a one goal defeat, and asking a leaky Palace back four to build a two goal cushion is the part that looks hardest.
