Fenerbahce have won three of the four. Look at the totals, though: 161, 161, 166 and 163. None of them got past 166.

Fenerbahce beat Virtus Bologna 78-68 at home in round 1. Talen Horton-Tucker led the way with 13 points, and Shields and Baldwin added 12 each. Sarunas Jasikevicius’s side then lost 98-83 to Bahcesehir in the Turkish league, which is not a great warm-up for this one.

Bayern won 86-84 against Hapoel Tel Aviv in a game played in Sofia. Andreas Obst scored 19 and Johannes Voigtmann hit the late three that won it. They then crushed Alba Berlin 95-61 in the German league.

Fenerbahce played round 1 without Shane Larkin and Marcus Bingham. Bayern were without Kamar Baldwin, Niels Giffey and Duane Washington. I have not seen confirmed status for any of them for Tuesday, so check the injury report before tip-off.

This is my strongest pick, and the head-to-head is the main reason. The last four meetings finished on 161, 161, 166 and 163 points. That is four out of four under this line.

Fenerbahce’s opener also fits. Their 78-68 win over Virtus added up to just 146 points. Jasikevicius teams defend, and at home in Istanbul the pace usually drops.

What worries me a little, is just Bayern. Their game against Hapoel went to 170, and they put 95 on Alba. If Bayern shoot like that, this line is in danger. But it will be hard to do in Turkey. Fenerbahce are not Alba, and I think the defensive history between these two carries more weight.

For me, 10.5 points is a lot to give in almost any EuroLeague game between two decent teams. Fenerbahce only beat Virtus by 10 at home, and they just lost by 15 in their own league. Bayern beat Fenerbahce by nine the last time these two met, won on the road in round 1 and look solid.

Fenerbahce‘s last two home wins in this matchup were by 15 and 11, both covering this number. That is why this is a smaller stake than the under. I still think the market has overreacted, and the two picks fit together: a lower-scoring game usually means a closer one.

Fenerbahce should win this, but it won’t be easy. My best play is Under 166.5 points at 1.91, backed by four straight meetings under that mark. I am adding Bayern +10.5 at 1.91 as a smaller second bet, because I expect a pretty tight and grinding game in Istanbul.
