The San Antonio Spurs are one win away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 2014. After a dominant 118-91 victory in Game 6 on Thursday, the Spurs have forced a winner-take-all Game 7 against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

Victor Wembanyama is playing like the best player in this series right now. In games the Spurs win, he is close to a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double with multiple blocks. In games they lose, he struggles from the field. The pattern is that clear.

His supporting cast is also stepping up. Dylan Harper posted 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in Game 6, making him one of only five rookies in NBA history to reach 200 points, 70 rebounds, 50 assists and 20 steals in a single postseason.

Stephon Castle added 16 points and nine assists while holding Gilgeous-Alexander in check for stretches. Devin Vassell shot 4-for-7 from three. The Spurs went 15-for-41 from deep in Game 6, with ball movement driving 14 of those 15 assisted threes.

San Antonio carried the fight in Game 6 from start to finish. The Spurs led the entire game, shot 47% from the floor, and held Oklahoma City to just 37% shooting overall and 25% from three-point range.

Wembanyama was a force on both ends, finishing with 28 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in only 28 minutes. The Spurs went on a 20-0 run in the third quarter to blow the game open. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was held to 15 points on 6-for-18 shooting and went 0-for-5 from three. Oklahoma City’s starters combined for just 3-for-18 from deep.

The Thunder went 34-7 at home during the regular season and are 6-1 at home in these playoffs. Their only home loss this postseason came in double overtime against San Antonio in Game 1 of this very series.

The Thunder swept their first two playoff series and enter as 4.5-point favorites. Gilgeous-Alexander has been the best player in the league this year, and a bounce-back game from him in front of a hostile Oklahoma City crowd is expected by most analysts.

However, San Antonio is not afraid of the road. The Spurs went 29-12 away from home in the regular season and are 5-3 on the road in the 2026 playoffs. They also went 4-1 against Oklahoma City during the regular season, including a Christmas Day win. This group has been tested all year and keeps responding.

San Antonio is getting 4.5 points in a game where they just won by 27. They have already beaten this same Thunder team on the road in double overtime earlier in the series.

The Spurs are covering because they have the best player in this series right now, their defense is built to slow Gilgeous-Alexander down, and their three-point shooting gives them a path to keeping it close or winning outright. Castle has disrupted Gilgeous-Alexander in key moments all series long.

The Spurs have the size, depth and coaching structure to keep this under a five-point margin. Oklahoma City is the better team at home on paper, but this San Antonio squad has earned every win and will not roll over. At +4.5, the Spurs are the right play.
