Both teams changed very heavily this offseason, got 13 new players apiece. The difference is Maccabi clearly changed for the better, Baskonia changed for worse. They look especially weak away from home, losing all 5 matches so far. Chemistry is still close to non-existant and losing in ACB game after game will not help either.
Maccabi surprised me a little bit by playing solid basketball right from the Euroleague start, but now I do not expect that to change in one week.
It is always hard to play in Tel-Aviv and with what Baskonia showed so far, they have very little chances here.

Ok, Knicks is a terrible team, we all get that. But they are already 0-4 in preseason now it's a preseason finale and they play at home against Wizards without Wall and most probably very limited other main players. Wizards had a good preseason, they don't care about this game at all. Knicks on the other hand will probably have to wait for first win quite a bit if they don't take this one. IMO they will at least try pretty hard, as hard as it's reasonable in preseason. Kuzminskas will make preseason debut, Unicorn is still most probably out.

Line already moved a bit, thus lower stake.
Real kept absolutely ALL important players, they added Campazzo, Kuzmic and Causeur and are even better team this season. Real played 4 official matches after all international players came back to the club and they are ready and in good form now.

Anadolu made some good signings, too - but then again, they changed the core completely by adding 10 new players. They are just not there yet to compete against one of the best teams in Euroleague. They will try to make it close at home, but 5 points loss is close to the best case scenario here for Efes. Comfortable 8-15+ Real win is what I expect.

While Nets are listed as home team, actually this will be played in neutral Nassau arena, 40km away from Brooklyn home arena. Nets are 3-0 in preseason, 76rs are 0-3. No team actually wants to be "preseason champion" and I think that is Blooklyn included :)
Fultz is OUT today, but Embiid will play his first preseason game and 76rs tend to push much more when he is available. Just to show how much better team they actually are with him playing. He won't play long IMO, but in this case it does not matter much.
76rs bench is certainly not worse than Nets and I think they want to win this meaningless game a bit more.

There is surely value with such odds @betfair.
Yes, Obradoiro had better preseason, they depend on 3-point shooting very heavily and so it happened the shots were falling :) Main mission for Zaragoza is to limit Corbacho, Thomas, Simons and Bendzius on perimeter.

Zaragoza on the other hand were not so good in preseason matches, but they signed Triguero and Gary Neal recently, so they could make quite an impact from the start. On paper Zaragoza is a better team in my opinion, they also have a better coach in Cuspinera (former Baskonia and Madrid Real) and although the chemistry will be lacking, I believe if they limit Obradoiro to 30% 3pts, they can take this home.

This line should lead us to think it will be the same motivation for both teams. But it's not true. Celtics are calm, as is Kyrie - he will now have years to prove his real value. There is no sense of urgency here.
But Lebron will take this game personally and he will lead - more so than he would in any other opening game. Be sure that home crowd will take care of it's part, too.
It is even a plus that Thomas will miss this game - Cavs chemistry, even with additions of Wade and Crowder will be many times better than Celtics, who lost (at least) half of their defensive potential, got completely new core and although they seem quite good on paper, but will look as a mess in the first game.
I do not expect a blowout, although it is also a possibility - but I expect a solid victory in a convincing fashion. Anything above @1.5 for moneyline and handicap lower than 6.0 is very good. There is also -3.5 @coral and marathon @1.96 - I just don't use them.
Early bet, as the line will move and presumably a lot.

First round Joventut played a terrible game, made just 3/16 3pts and still were leading for 38 minutes. While Kataja has a nice team this year, it is still not on the same level as Joventut yet. The result of first game is a bit misleading and does not show real capabilities of both teams. Joventut has two new players since the last game Alex Ruoff and José Nogués.
They also had a long trip with some problems with flights, but this won't play major role at this point of the season, IMO.

Joventut has to win 4+ in order to qualify and honestly I see this as double digit victory. Kataja will fight hard, that is just not always enough :)

Supercopa Endesa - Gran Canaria 2017

At the moment Gran Canaria has much better chemistry, as only Gal Mekel joined a week before and he was the last one. They played the whole preparation as a complete team and had pretty good results.

Now it's much different story with Real, as half of the team played at Eurobasket and some of them till the last day: Doncic, Randolph, Kuzmic. They joined the team only 2 days ago, Doncic is still questionable to play at all. Sergio Llull is injured, Causier was injured for half of preparation, too. Maciulis in very poor shape.
All in all, this is far from the team we are going to see later in the season and worth a shot considering the odds and Gran Canaria having much more motivation playing @home.

Just completely wrong odds - Shved made 12 assists last game where russians scored 101 in a perfect game against Croatia. It's very hard to expect similar offensive performance from Russia, as Greece is much better on defense. They are far from very good defensively, but still pretty solid compared to Croatia.
Last season with Khimki he averaged about 5 assists and if we count out the last game, in Eurobasket this year he made:

vs SRB 4
vs BEL 6
vs LAT 6
vs GBR 8

That is an average of 5.6 assists and having in mind Russia will have a difficult time scoring their average of 80 PPG, I see corect total at 5.5

Spain yet again plays against big underdog and they already showed that they are comfortable playing "B game", as long as they are winning. They scored a ton against weak teams in the first round, but that was more about their opponents, not so much about spaniards. Germany will not give up so easily. They are a very well organized team and should not give up many fast break points, but they will also have hard time finding opportunities against Gasol/Hernangomez brothers and Rubio - all great defenders and they all match up great against Germany offense leaders. Spain offense is also not so fast anymore and it's much more about efficiency, not about volume.
To sum up - both teams know how to play and prefer smart "oldschool" basketball and fastest guy on both teams Schroder will have much harder game than any before in this Eurobasket.
