She made deep runs in all three tournaments, that she entered this season: Charleston (semifinal), Istanbul (winner), Madrid (quaterfinals). In the opening match of Roland Garros she easily beat Jabeur 6:1 6:2, her return of serve games was astonishing. Mladenovic (WTA 53) after hiring former N.Osaka coach Sasha Bajin, has played some good tennis. She made good run in Rome, reaching quaterfinals. Her clay court season record is 11 wins and 4 losses. In the first round Mladenovic beat her countrywoman Ferro 6:3 7:6. This match was evenly matched and Mladenovic had to erase break deficits in each set.
These players have met three times, two of those matches won by Martic. Most recent meeting was in Istanbul on clay, Martic won that match after gruelling three set encounter (7:6 4:6 7:6) which lasted 3 hours.
Both players enjoying great form on clay. As for today Martic is better player than Mladenovic, I think this match will be very close,crowd support would be on Mladenovic side but i see Martic winning in three sets.
