Russia is not one of the most powerful teams at the moment. However, my choice for this bet is due to how poor Turkey has looked. It would seem that no matter what kind of a tournament they are playing at, or even if it is a friendly, the players do not care enough to bother showing their true potential. Moreover, this game is away, in Russia, which is always rather difficult place to play in.
I do not expect a lot of goals, but I do believe that Russia should be the team to win this one.

Scotland and Portugal play at Hampden Park in a friendly. This is the 6th friendly that Scotland are doing this year, after friendlies against Belgium, Mexico, Peru, Hungary and Costa Rica. In the case of Portugal, this is their 7th friendly of the year, having already faced Croatia, Algeria, Belgium, Tunisia, the Netherlands and Egypt. There is no record of official clashes between these two teams in the last 3 years. The last clash was on 20-11-2002 and ended with the result: Portugal (2-0) Scotland. In this match the home factor may play an important role as Scotland has significant differences in the results achieved at home and as a visitor.
Analysis of Scotland
This is the 6th year of the friendly staff of the house after the previous friendlies have recorded the following results: Scotland (0-4) Belgium, Mexico (1-0) Scotland, Peru (2-0) Scotland, Hungary (0 -1) Scotland and Scotland (0-1) Costa Rica. This is a stronger team when you play in your stadium, because in the last 30 games you have 5 wins, 2 draws and 8 losses as a visitor; against 7 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses in his stadium. In the last game that disputed, for the UEFA Nations League, lost with Israel outside by (2-1). In the last 9 home games Scotland recorded 4 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. The team conceded goals to their opponents in 4 of the last 5 games, so they have not shown great defensive solidity, and their attack needs to improve as it has failed to achieve in 4 of the last 5 games in this competition. In his home games there is a tendency to few goals, since 4 of his last 9 games finished with Less than 1.5 goals and 7 of 9 finished with Less than 2.5 goals. In 15 games, he suffered the first goal 7 times and never managed to turn the score.
Scotland's side arrive for this unmotivated match after a 2-1 defeat to Israel in a League of Nations match. In 2 games played within this competition, the Scots won 1 victory and suffered 1 defeat. Coach Alex McLeish usually opts for the traditional 3-4-3, aiming to favor a faster style of play and constant transitions, aiming to attack mainly through the sidelines. It is worth noting that in this drawing, the most advanced pieces should be McGregor, Naismith and Russell. For this match, there will probably be no weight loss.
Analysis of Portugal
This will be the 7th friendly of the year for the visiting team, after previous friendly matches have recorded the following results: Portugal (1-1) Croatia, Portugal (3-0) Algeria, Belgium (0-0) Portugal, Portugal 2) Tunisia, Portugal (0-3) Netherlands and Portugal (2-1) Egypt. This is a team largely unaffected by the home factor, ie, have similar results at home and away, since the last 30 games recorded 7 wins, 5 draws and 3 losses as a visitor, with a total of 26 goals scored and 12 conceded. Already inside the home, won 7 wins, 7 draws and 1 loss, with a total of 27 goals scored and 15 conceded. The team arrives in this match after a win away to Poland by (2-3). In the last 9 matches played in all competitions, Portugal won 6, drew 2 and lost 1. In 15 games, suffered the first goal 6 times but managed to turn the score in 2.
The Portuguese team enters this match after triumphing by 2-3 in the visit to Poland. Highlights for the goals that were scored by André Silva, Bernardo Silva and Glik (goal against). Coach Fernando Santos usually opts for 4-3-3, aiming to give greater importance to a style of game more cadenced and possession of ball, progressing mainly through midfield. The three most advanced pieces should be André Silva, Bernardo Silva and Rafa Silva, and in the middle zone are likely to play Pizzi, William Carvalho and Rúben Neves. For this match all the cast is still available.
Russia v Turkey Betting, Odds and Tips Preview
Russia host Turkey in the UEFA League of Nations on Sunday afternoon and a win for the hosts will get them to a promotion point. Russia has continued where left in the summer with a good start to their campaign in the League of Nations they sit on 4 points with 1 win and a draw so far. Russia enter the game as favorites to 5/4 to win the match with Turkey for 12/5 and win in Sochi.
Turkey got a last-minute win against Sweden last time but they will be against it here. That victory was the first Turkish away win in 7 games. The Crescent Moons have fought away from home and this may be up to their defense, they have already conceded 4 goals in 2 games in the League of Nations so far and they only kept 2 clean sheets in their last 12 games. These clean sheets came against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland. Russia, on the other hand, just could not find the net once in their last 9 games. Both teams to score in this game are 1/1 (William Hill) and this may be a good choice as the two previous meetings between the two sides in this calendar year have allowed both sides to find the back of the net.
Russia have 5 consecutive wins against Turkey and I think they might be on the right track. They will be looking at striker Artem Dzyuba to dismiss them for victory, the 30-year-old scored his 15th goal for Russia in the reverse electric device and he is currently a generous 5/1 (Bet365) to score first on Sunday.
Another angle that interests me in this game is Russia winning and more than 2.5 goals at 14/5 (Betbright). 6 of the last 8 games involving Russia scored more than 2.5 goals scored, which bodes well for that angle of attack, and I think with the experienced Russian team we can see the home team standing out.
Team News
Russia has drawn headlines for the wrong reasons in the confrontation with Sweden after Aleksandr Kokorin was arrested for assault. The striker has not played since March, but Artem Dzyuba has established himself as the country's number one striker during Kokorin's absence.
Emre Akbaba was dismissed from the current Turkish team due to injury, but there were few changes from the defeat to Russia last time.
Potential Russia Beginning XI: Guilherme, Manuel Fernandes, Neustadter Romano, Georgiy Dzhikiya, Konstantin Rausch, Yury Gazinskiy, Romano Zobnin, Daler Kuzyaev, Aleksander Golovin, Denis Cheryshev, Artem Dzyuba
Potential Turkey Beginning XI: Sinan Bolat, Sener Ozbayrakli, Caglar Soyuncu, Kaan Ayhan, Omer Bayram, Mahmut Texdemir, Ok Yokuslu, Cengiz Sob, Oguzhan Ozyakup, Hakan Calhanoglou, Cenk Tosun
Head to head
Turkey has yet to hit Russia since the break-up of the Soviet Union.
This will be the third time the two countries meet in 2018, having drawn 1-1 in a friendly in June before the World Cup.
Key statistics and facts
Turkey kept only two clean sheets in their last 12 games.
6 of the last 8 games involving Russia scored more than 2.5 goals scored.
Betting Odds
The verdict
This game will be very close and may not be the biggest of the shows, but I think we expect to see goals in this match. I would stand by the Russians to get on top of this and continue building from their impressive World Cup.
