On Wednesday night, Spanish champions Barcelona host Villarreal at the Nou Camp in La Liga, as the visitors look to secure a top-six spot.
Barcelona have been outstanding this season and remain unbeaten in La Liga, having already been crowned Spanish champions. The Blaugrana are now in fact 42 league games undefeated dating back to last season.
One factor in the Catalan giants recent form in La Liga has been their home form and in particular their attacking prowess at the Nou Camp. The champions have managed to score at least two goals in 27 of their previous 29 league outings on home soil. They are also unbeaten in 34 league games on home soil.
Villarreal are one of the few teams remaining in La Liga with something to play for this season. The Yellow Submarine are currently sixth-place in the Spanish top-flight, five points clear of seventh-place Getafe in the race for the Europa League spots. This game is the visitor’s game in-hand on the Madrid-based outfit.
Javi Calleja’s side heads to Catalonia in decent form, as they are currently unbeaten in four La Liga games, having recorded three straight wins. However, they have suffered defeat on their last seven visits to the Nou Camp. It seems unlikely that the visitors will change that statistic in this clash.
