Brazil v Mexico Preview and Prediction

On Monday afternoon, World Cup favourites Brazil clash with Mexico in the last 16 of Russia 2018.

Brazil started the competition as favourites to lift the trophy in Russia this summer. Not much has changed, as the Selecao won two of three group games and cruised into the last 16 of the competition.

The South American giants will be eying a place in the last eight of the competition, as they have not been beaten in 14 outings. Their recent unbeaten run is based on outstanding displays at both ends of the pitch.

Tite’s side has managed to find the net twice or more in four of their last five matches. At the other end of the pitch, the Selecao have managed to keep clean sheets in seven of their previous eight games.

Mexico won their opening to games in Russia against Germany and South Korean before suffering a 3-0 defeat against Sweden, which saw the Scandinavian team finish top of the group.

El Tri’s recent games have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 scored in five of their last outing. However, their previous two games have produced over 2.5 goals.

Mexico will be without crucial centre-back Hector Moreno, who is out of the game through suspension.
