Croatia v England Preview and Prediction

The second of the World Cup semi-finals takes place on Wednesday night in Moscow, as Croatia and England go head-to-head for a place in the final of the competition.

The two teams will be looking to make history. Croatia have never made it to the World Cup final, in fact, they have only made it to the last four in World Cup once, which was in 1998 in their debut finals.

England meanwhile have only taken part in two previous semi-finals, with their last semi-final appearance coming at Italia ’90.

Croatia were impressive in the group stages, winning all three games. However, the Eastern European side needed extra time and penalties to defeat Denmark and host nation Russia.

Zlatko Dalic’s side has scored at least two goals in four of their last six games in 90 minutes. Their defensive record of late is concerning, as they have kept only one clean sheet in their previous seven games.

England recorded a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over Sweden in the last eight to set-up this meeting. The win means that Gareth Southgate’s side has suffered just one defeat in their last 15 international games.

The Three Lions have been relatively prolific in recent games, scoring at least twice in five of their last seven matches.
