English Championship: Aston Villa v Sheffield Utd Preview and Prediction

Date/Time: Friday 8th February 2019 (Kick-off 08:45 PM CET). 

The opening fixture in the Championship looks to be a very good one on paper when Aston Villa and Sheffield United meet at Villa Park on Friday night. The television cameras will arrive expecting entertainment to be broadcast to those watching at home and I tend to lean that way too.

In recent games Sheffield United might not have been scoring as many goals as they would like, but they have continued to pose a threat going forward. That has seen them produce a fightback to earn a draw at Norwich City and also wear down and break down the Bolton Wanderers resistance last weekend.

Now they face an Aston Villa team who have been conceding goals for fun at Villa Park. Those defensive issues have prevented Dean Smith's men from making a significant climb up the League table as Aston Villa have had no problems on the other side of the pitch.

In fact they have scored at least twice in 8 League games at home in succession, but Aston Villa have won less than half of those.

Sheffield United did earn a 2-2 draw here last season and I do think goals are in the offing on Friday too. I would not be surprised if at least four are scored in this one like last season and like earlier this at Bramall Lane, but the price for seeing at least three goals shared out is attractive enough and the selection.
