Leeds United v Stoke City Preview and Prediction

On Sunday afternoon, Leeds United host Championship new boys Stoke City at Elland Road, as both teams look to kick-off their new league campaigns with victories.

Leeds pulled off something of a coup by appointing highly-rated Argentinian boss Marcelo Bielsa as their new head coach this summer. The former Chilean boss is expected to lead a Premier League promotion charge this season.

The Whites finished last season’s Championship campaign in unconvincing fashion by winning just two of their last seven league matches. United finished the season in strong form on home soil, though, as they went unbeaten in their last four games at Elland Road, winning three times in the process.

Stoke suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, so will be making their first appearance in the second tier over a decade. The Potters have not enjoyed a great pre-season under new boss Gary Rowett.

However, the team from the Potteries will be hoping for a strong start to their second campaign. One aspect the visitors will have to improve upon in the second tier is their away form, as the Potters recorded just one win on their travels in their last 14 games in the top-flight. A trip to Elland Road is the sort of game the visitors would have wished for on their return to the second tier.
