NBA Finals Golden State Warriors vs Toronto Raptors Game 5 Preview and Prediction

    Date/Time: 06-07-2019, 21:00 EDT

    Spread: Toronto Raptors -2.5

    Total: +213.5

With the second-seeded in the East Raptors (58-24) having won both road games and having taken a commanding 3-1 lead, the series moves once again back in Toronto where they will be hosting the top-seeded in the West and defending champions Golden State Warriors (57-25) in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Warriors are now with their backs against the wall and need to bounce back today in order to force one more game at their home court.

Toronto Raptors finished the regular season with a 58-24 record (38-44 against the spread) and were placed 2nd in the East. They have won seven of their last eight matches and in their last game they won on the road against the Warriors in game 4 with a 105-92 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Kawhi Leonard with 31.1 ppg, adding 3.9 dimes a team high 9.1 rebounds per game. He is followed by Pascal Siakam with 19 ppg and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Golden State Warriors finished the regular season with a 57-25 record (35-46-1 against the spread) and were placed on top of the West. They have lost three of their last four matches and in their last game they lost at home against the Raptors in game 4 with a 92-105 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Kevin Durant with 34.2 ppg, adding 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game but he is still out with an injury. He is followed by Stephen Curry with 28.4 ppg, adding 6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Raptors lead the Warriors 5-1 wins so far this season and are 2-1 at home. Raptors have a 36-15 home record, while the Warriors are 34-17 on the road. Warriors have a better offense with 117.1 ppg to Raptors’ 112.7, while Raptors have a better defense, allowing 106.7 ppg to Warriors’ 111.2. Warriors have better percentages both in field goals (48.8% to 46.7%) and in 3-pointers (38.1% to 36.2%). They are also better both in boards grabbed (45.7 to 44.6) and in dimes made (29.2 to 24.8), while Raptors are better in turnovers committed (12.9 to 13.9). Bookmakers give the Raptors a -2.5 spread and expect them to beat the odds as they have the Warriors on the ropes in the series.

Golden State Warriors vs Toronto Raptors Game 5 Prediction: Toronto Raptors -2.5 (-107)
