WNBA Minnesota Lynx vs Los Angeles Sparks Preview and Prediction

    Date/Time: 08-02-2018 22:00 EDT

    Spread: Los Angeles Sparks +1.5

    Total: +153.5

Two of the three best teams currently in the Western Conference face off in this rematch of last year’s finals, when the defending champions Minnesota Lynx, who want to continue on the winning ways, are visiting the Los Angeles Sparks, who have been extremely unstable and haven’t lost or won a second straight game for the past month.

Lynx are 15-10 (10-15 ATS) so far in the league and are sitting on the 2nd place of the Western Conference. They have won their last three games and in their latest matchup they were victorious against the Liberty at home, 85-82. Sparks are 15-11 (13-13 ATS) so far in the league and are sitting on the 3rd place of the Western Conference. In their latest matchup they got defeated by the Dream at home, 71-81.

Minnesota are led in scoring by Maya Moore with 18.2 ppg. She also adds 5.1 rebounds per game, while Sylvia Fowles follows with 17.1 ppg, adding a team-best 11.7 rebounds per game. Seimone Augustus adds 10.8 ppg. Los Angeles are led in scoring by Candace Parker with 18 ppg. She also adds 7.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, while Nneka Ogwumike follows with 16.1 ppg, adding a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game. Chelsea Gray adds 14.5 ppg and a team-best 5.3 assists per game.

This will be the fourth meeting between those two teams this season, with Los Angeles leading 2-1 wins and having won the only home game by 8 points. Los Angeles have a 8-6 home record so far, while Minnesota are 7-5 on the road. Those two teams score almost the same number of points offensively, with 79.5 and 79.4 ppg, while Minnesota are better defensively, allowing a league-best of 76.9 ppg to Los Angeles’ second-best of 77.5. Los Angeles have a better accuracy both from the field, shooting with 46.3% to Minnesota’s 44.4% and from behind the arc, shooting with 34.7% to Minnesota’s 34.3%. Los Angeles also commit fewer turnovers per game (12.7 to 14.1), while Minnesota grab more boards per game (36 to 30.6) and dish more dimes (19.5 to 18.8). Sparks have been extremely unstable lately so expect the Lynx to take advantage of that and get away with the road win tonight.

Minnesota Lynx vs Los Angeles Sparks Prediction: Minnesota Lynx -1.5 (-111)
